The right combination of hardness and size is crucial for both comfort and performance. These factors affect your grip or slide, how agile or fast you are, and how quickly your wheels wear out.

    High-Quality Mouthguards from SISU Guard

    Mouthguards are made from flexible material that absorbs the impact of a fall or collision and distributes the force over a large area. This way, the sharp edges of your teeth don't damage your gums, the inside of your cheeks, or your lips. Moreover, mouth protection reduces the risk of jaw fractures and even concussions. That's why we always recommend buying a roller skate helmet.

    The mouthguards in our range of roller skate protection are made by the American company Akervall Technologies Inc., which sells them under the brand name SISU Sports Mouthguards. Sisu is a hard-to-translate Finnish concept that means something like "long-term perseverance." ATI's mission is to produce "the strongest and most comfortable mouthguards in the world."

    A Perfectly Fitting Mouthguard

    A precisely fitting mouthguard offers the best protection. Follow these steps to fit your mouthguard:

    1. Fill a bowl with water at about 75°C (warm, but not boiling).
    2. Let your SISU mouthguard rest in it until it's pliable (about 1 minute).
    3. Place the mouthguard correctly in your mouth and fold the sides up against your teeth.
    4. Close your lips and gently suck in air.
    5. Remove your mouthguard only when it's fully hardened.

    Did something go wrong, or do you just want to do it again? Simply repeat the process. You can reshape SISU mouthguards up to 20 times. You'll know your mouthguard fits perfectly when it meets these conditions:

    • not removable with your tongue
    • biting surfaces aligned with your teeth
    • all perforations still present
    • covers the outside of all your teeth
    • allows for almost completely natural speech
